Official Rules: StrainGuide Monthly Video Review Pick

1. Sponsor

The StrainGuide Monthly Video Review Pick (the "Contest") is sponsored and run by Cannappy LLC ("we", "us", or "our"), which operates the StrainGuide app and strainguide.app. Questions about these rules? Contact us.

These rules apply together with the StrainGuide Terms of Service. If the two conflict about the Contest, these rules win.

2. Who Can Enter

You can enter if, when you enter, you:

are 21 or older;
are located where adult-use cannabis is legal, and filmed your review there; and
have a free StrainGuide account.

The entry form asks you to confirm each of these before you submit, and we may ask you to prove them before we award a prize. The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law, including anywhere a cannabis review video can't lawfully be made or shared. Our employees, anyone who judges the Contest, and members of their immediate families and households can't enter.

3. Entry Periods

The Contest runs in monthly entry periods (each an "Entry Period"). All times are Pacific Time.

First Entry Period: from when the monthly pick was first offered (with StrainGuide 4.13, in September 2026) until 11:59:59 p.m. on October 31, 2026. Every entry submitted before October 1, 2026 is judged in this first Entry Period.
After that: each calendar month is an Entry Period, from 12:00:00 a.m. on its first day to 11:59:59 p.m. on its last day. The second Entry Period is November 2026.

An entry belongs to the Entry Period in which its upload finishes. We may end the Contest by posting a notice on this page. Any Entry Period under way at that time is still judged and awarded.

4. How to Enter

In the StrainGuide app, tap "Film your strain review" on a strain page or in the menu, and sign in.
Upload a video review of a cannabis strain, 45 seconds to 3 minutes long, covering its look, smell, taste and effects, and who it's for.
Enter the strain and the name or handle you want to be credited as, confirm the statements on the form, and submit.

Entering is free. Each video you submit is one entry. You may enter more than once, but you can win at most one prize in an Entry Period. Entries made by script, bot or any other automated means, or through someone else's account, are void.

5. What Your Video Must Follow

It's a review. Show the flower up close and talk about it. Showing the product you're reviewing, including its packaging or label, is welcome.
No consumption on camera. Reviews are the format, not sessions: your video must not show anyone smoking, vaping, eating or otherwise consuming cannabis.
No paid promotion. Your video must not be an ad for a brand, store or other business, such as discount codes, prices or a pitch to buy. If a brand paid you or gave you anything for the review, you must say so in the video. Undisclosed sponsorship is not allowed.
Nothing unlawful. Your video must not show cannabis being bought or sold, anyone under 21, or any illegal activity, and must not be obscene, hateful or harassing.
It's yours. The video must be your own original work. You must own or have permission for everything in it, including any music. Anyone who appears in it must be 21 or older and must have agreed to appear.

As the entry form says, we may decline or remove any submission at our discretion. An entry that breaks these rules, or that we decline or remove, can't win.

6. Judging

This is a contest of skill. Chance plays no part in choosing the winner. After each Entry Period ends, a panel we choose judges every eligible entry from that Entry Period on these criteria:

Informativeness (40%): how clearly and accurately the review describes the strain's look, smell, taste and effects.
Presentation (30%): picture, sound, and how easy the review is to follow.
Originality (30%): a fresh, personal and engaging take.

If entries tie, the one with the higher Informativeness score wins. If they are still tied, the one with the higher Presentation score wins. If they are still tied, the judges choose between them by majority vote. Judging finishes within 30 days after the Entry Period ends. The judges' decisions are final. If an Entry Period has no eligible entries, no prize is awarded for it.

7. Odds

There is no random drawing, so there are no odds of winning. Your chance of winning depends on how many eligible entries there are in the Entry Period and how they score against the judging criteria.

8. Prize

One prize is awarded per Entry Period: a 12-month StrainGuide Premium subscription, delivered as a promo code you redeem in the App Store or Google Play, plus the winning review published as its own feature video in StrainGuide and on the DojaFarm channel, with credit to the winner. Approximate retail value: US$39.99, the price of a 12-month Premium subscription. The prize has no cash value and can't be transferred or exchanged, and no substitute is offered, except that we may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if this one becomes unavailable. The winner is responsible for any taxes on the prize.

9. Winner Notification

We notify the winner by email at the address on their StrainGuide account, and may also notify them in the app, within 7 days after judging finishes. The winner must reply within 14 days and may be asked to confirm their eligibility and sign a declaration of eligibility and release. If the winner can't be reached, doesn't reply in time, is found ineligible, or doesn't follow these rules, the prize is forfeited and may go to the next-highest-scoring eligible entry.

10. Rights in Your Video

You keep ownership of your video. By entering, you grant Cannappy LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to edit, publish, and distribute your video and your name or handle in StrainGuide, on the DojaFarm channel, and on associated accounts, whether or not your entry wins. Submissions are not guaranteed to be featured. Where the law allows, you also agree that we may name the winner, by the name or handle they entered with, in publicity about the Contest without further payment.

11. Privacy

We use the details you give when you enter (your account, email address, name or handle, and video) only to run the Contest, contact entrants and the winner, and publish featured reviews as described in section 10. We handle them under the StrainGuide Privacy Policy. Apple and Google receive no personal information from the Contest.

12. General Conditions

If fraud, a technical failure or anything else beyond our reasonable control harms the fairness or running of the Contest, we may cancel, suspend or change the Contest or an Entry Period, and judge the eligible entries received before the problem. We may disqualify anyone who tampers with the entry process or breaks these rules. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or corrupted entries or uploads, and by entering you release Cannappy LLC from liability for any loss or injury arising from the Contest or the prize. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and any dispute is resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.

13. Changes to These Rules

We may update these rules. Changes are posted on this page with a new date and don't change the rules for an Entry Period that has already ended.

14. Winners List

For the name or handle of an Entry Period's winner, contact us within 60 days after that winner is announced.
